Readers visit the Mid-Atlantic’s weekend hotspots

Ellen Matis

Recreation News readers are exploring places all over the Mid-Atlantic this week, and they’re sharing their adventures with us.

This weekend, here’s what readers are up to:

1. Boating in D.C.

Reader @tntammy kayaked the Potamac River this weekend, checking in at the Key Bridge Boathouse. The facility offers rentals of kayaks, stand-up paddleboards and offers a bunch of different activities.

2. Visiting Pennsylvania’s swimming holes

While Pennsylvania is home to many (hidden and not) swimming holes, reader @tippa412 visited one in Ohiopyle State Park this weekend. Ohiopyle offers camping, ziplining, biking, hiking and more.

3. Drinking Local

The Wasena City Taproom is one of dozens of places to try a local beer in the Mid-Atlantic. Reader @yoyoyup shared this photo from his stop there this week, during a bicycle group ride through Virginia.

4. Hanging out with man’s best friend

What better adventure buddy than your dog? @nalasquest shared this photo taken earlier this week at Cascade Falls, Va. We featured the falls in our weekly Waterfall Wednesday last month.
